Typically Co-generation plants are
housed at Sugar Mill complex wherein
Bagassee (sugar cane residue) generated
in the mill during crushing is used as a
fuel in the Boiler to produce steam and
electricity. The Cogen plant supply
steam and power to Sugar Mill in lieu of
fuel supplied by the Mill and excess
power generated is sold to the Grid/ 3rd
parties. The Bagassee supplied by Sugar
Mill covers about 50 to 60% of Co-gen
plant's fuel requirements and balance is
supplemented by other Biomass fuels like
Sugar cane trash, Juliflora and other
agri-residues available in the region.
OGPL is in the process of setting up
co-generation plants with sugar mills to
produce captive power, as a part of its
strategic expansion plans for Biomass
power business. |
